Video Player Pro for Learners
An Android video player for working through a folder of lecture videos. It remembers which videos you have already watched, and has YouTube search built in so a quick lookup does not pull you out of the app.
Why I built it
It started when a professor sent me 15 lecture videos, on top of other tutorial series I was watching, and I could not keep track of which ones I had finished. Nobody watches 15 videos in one day; a little every day works better, but only if you can see where you left off. When the bookkeeping gets in the way, the motivation to keep learning fades.
I had free time in summer 2020, after my co-op at Hunter Engineering, so I built a player that tracks it for you.
What it does
- Playback
- Plays the videos on your phone with Google ExoPlayer2
- Progress
- Marks which videos you have already watched
- Search
- YouTube search inside the app, so looking something up mid-lecture does not mean switching apps
- Release
- Published on Google Play in 2020; no longer listed
